Self-Limiting Beliefs: Session 5
Over the next few months, we will be choosing a different theme each week in which we will post videos, write blog posts and create statistics pictures about. Each topic coincides with something which is taught in our 6 workshops and is a really useful bit of information if you’re wondering what our coaching entails.
This week’s focus is Self-Limiting Beliefs.
So, what are self-limiting beliefs? These are internal beliefs which may prevent us from achieving our dreams and goals. Believe it or not, none of us have any limits to what we can achieve in life, however our negative thoughts can prevent us from taking action to achieve our goals. We can convince ourselves a number of things, such as that we don’t have the abilities to achieve our goals, we’re too old, not smart enough, don’t deserve things and many other self-limiting ideas.
During our coaching sessions, we often find that our self-limiting beliefs are simply untrue, and that we are basing our assumptions on emotion rather than facts. Once these self-limiting beliefs have been identified, us- as coaches- will then challenge you to question where these self-limiting beliefs come from and will encourage you to ask yourself ‘does this belief support me?’ ‘how does it benefit me in life?’ The idea is, once we begin to realise that our self-limiting beliefs aren’t justified or helpful, we will start to take action to consciously change the way we think.
